Our club was formed in 1924 by a small group of ladies a year ahead of St Clements Mens Club which is a very rare fact in golf history.

The Club has had many ups and downs over the years but we are pleased to say that having survived the Covid years and our membership is still increasing following a very successful development/recruitment campaign.

St Clements Ladies Golf Club is open to all women of all abilities and it enables its members to achieve a recognised official golfing handicap.

We are an inclusive and sociable group of women, providing the opportunity to enjoy exercise and promote social and mental wellbeing in a structured progression in the game of golf.

The Club meets every Tuesday morning, Thursday afternoons and Saturday mornings on St Clements golf course.

From the date above you will note 2024 is a special year where the club celebrates its Centenary. 100 years of golf and here’s to many more!

Mission Statement

“To be an inclusive Ladies Golf Club that nurtures new members into golf and provides an opportunity for all ages and levels to enjoy the game of golf.”

Golf is a game enjoyed by millions of people around the world both young and old.

At St. Clement’s Ladies Club, we introduced an Academy Section in 2023. The introduction of this section was as a successful result of running the programme for beginners and ladies of some golfing ability for the past two years. This successful programme has enabled our club to grow it's numbers.

ACADEMY COURSE MEMBERSHIP

Opportunity to be a member of St. Clements Ladies Golf Club

Opportunity to join in group lessons - dates and times to be agreed.

Mentoring from existing experienced club members

Course play as a club on Tuesday mornings. Advancement to 9- & 18-hole membership as ability dictates.

Opportunity to play casual golf at other times with existing club members.

Access to other fun golf during the year i.e., Texas Scramble afternoons

Join in Social Activities in clubhouse on Tuesday morning and other times i.e. lunches, soup, hot dogs, pancakes, cakes etc.

Chance to practice different aspects of the game in a safe environment – access to putting green, 3-hole Academy course, bunkers, chipping & nets

Join in organised Rules evenings and any other social events.

It is recommended that all beginners have professional lessons (details for St. Clements below)

Aim to have ladies ready to play fun 9-hole Texas Scramble as arranged by the Club.

Current membership fee is £50.00. If you have golf green fees then access to Academy course is free. Otherwise, there is a small charge to be paid at kiosk prior to your activity.

On becoming a member, you will be added to the clubs What’s App group.

GOLF PROGRESSION

BEGINNERS: Advantage to have some golf experience and taken some golf tuition. We can advise on how to access a course of lessons with professionals (see below). Should have had some basic tuition on how to hold a club etc. before going on Academy Course

IMPROVERS: Once confidence gained on Academy course, including knowledge of pace of play, knowledge of rules, scoring, how to gain a handicap, club selection and shots.

Mentor will assist with progression to the golf course. Achieve a golf handicap to enable progression to 9- & 18-hole handicaps.

Progression to the 9- & 18-hole sections will require the membership fee difference between the academy membership and relevant section.

9 HOLE MEMBERSHIP

1. If Green Fee membership is not held then it’s the members responsibility to ensure green fees are paid prior to any play. 6 x 9-hole cards or 3 18 hole cards or a combination of both are required for initial handicap purposes – these cards should be marked by a full 18-hole club member and can be completed any time, except Tuesday morning.

2. Once the 6 cards are completed they should be handed to the Handicap Secretary when your handicap will be assigned. The player will need to download and register “How Did I Do” (https://www.howdidido.com ) This app allows the member to sign up for future competitions and receive competition results & handicap information. Assistance will be provided on set-up and use. If a player signs up for a competition and is then unable to play, they must advise their playing partners and the Handicap Secretary at earliest opportunity.

3. All competition cards will be returned to the club room on day of competition, duly checked and signed, and scores entered into PSI system.

4. Competitions will be on a Tuesday morning starting approx. 9.00am (to be advised weekly) in groups of 3.

5. A 9-hole member can become an 18-hole member at any time, subject to payment of the membership differential.

6. On becoming a member, you will be added to the clubs What’s App group.

7. All fees should be paid immediately when due. Fees for 2024 are £150 and should be paid prior to AGM or pro-rata depending on joining date. Fees are reviewed annually in December.

18 HOLE MEMBERSHIP

All the above.

Opportunity to play at other clubs in annual team events – as selected by the team Captain and senior matches for those +55. Possible team selection for away matches i.e., Guernsey and possibly some UK. Acting as mentors for any lady academy or 9-hole members who require assistance.

St. Clements Recreation Ground Green Fees are required for 18 hole members.

Current fee is £190.00 pa or pro-rata depending on joining date. Fees are reviewed annually in December.
