The WHS have introduced a new way of calculating Handicaps.

To make this easier for Members to understand the HCP acronym will be used as follows:

H – Handicap Index. Each member has a Handicap Index. This can be found on HowDidIDo or on the PSI system by entering your Name and viewing your details.

C – Course Handicap. Once you know your Handicap Index you can look up your Course Handicap by using the Handicap Table Index chart which can be located by the Recreation Grounds hut or on HowDidIDo by selecting the burger menu (three horizontal lines), Handicap, then selecting Courses. They can also be found further below on this page.

P – Playing Handicap. This is the number of strokes you will receive for the competition. Your Playing Handicap for Stroke Play & Stableford competitions is calculated at 95% of your Course Handicap.

An example of HCP:

Peter has a Handicap Index of 18.4. Using the Handicap Table Index chart his Course Handicap is 17. His Playing Handicap is then calculated by the following formula: 17 / 100 * 95 = 16.15 which is then rounded to 16. Should it be 16.5 then it would be rounded up to 17.

Members should not worry too much when attempting to calculate their Playing Handicap. If they can retrieve their Course Handicap and try to play to that on the understanding that they may lose a shot when entering their score.
